Christopher's First Area is Cape Cod

He is loving it on Cape Cod!

Here is a letter:

'My first assigned area is on Cape Cod, there's only 4 of us on the whole isle. Its an amazing place, you don't even know!! There's old houses everywhere, and so much seafood! And there's hundreds of thrift and antique stores everywhere, you would love it. And every house/ building here looks like the ones you like to take thousands of pictures of when you see one. Flying to Boston was cool, i met this Russian named Dmitri and he was a senior technology consultant for a data company. We talked the whole way to Boston and he even gave me the window seat. Eventually i gave him a card with info on our church and website addresses on it. He gave me a business card in case i ever stopped by in Moscow. Boston is incredible, everything is so old, but then you have these really big skyscrapers all over. I left my jacket on the plane by accident, so i had to get clearance and go through security again to get it. I ended up delaying the group by 40 min... i tried too hard to make a good first impression. The mission pres. is really really nice, and this area is beautiful. Natick was so cool too, really fresh air and cool trees all over. I've taken lots of pictures just for you. Even our apartment is some really old house, we live in the roof. The place was a disaster when we got in, dirty dishes all over, messy house, stuff all over, garbage all over, really stinky. I've spent the last couple days cleaning up.  We're also in the hardest part of the mission.investigators, There's old churches all over. The area we're in is so beautiful. We're even walking distance from the coast. We're gonna catch supper on P-day, crabs, clams and scallops. I can't wait, its going to be delish. Its really tough here, and i don't know why I'm training here. It was recommended to the mission pres. to close the place cause nothing is happening here, but instead they send me to train here. All of my district is in easier places like Boston and Connecticut. I haven't even taught a lesson yet, and its my third day. I did give this random lady at Wal-Mart a BofM though. Oh well, there's gotta be a reason I'm here. I couldn't imagine if you were here, it would be pictures pictures and more pictures. Loaded with antique searching. Now that i think about it, you would totally love this place!! Its just like I'm in England or something. Narrow roads and crazy drivers. The drivers here are really insane, you need to cut people off and you're allowed to drive in the shoulder during rush hour. I'm gonna look for some antiques on Pday, see if i can find anything cool to send you. Also i was wondering if you could send me  couple Canada flag patches that i could sew onto my backpack? With the pins and coins.  So far I've still been good with writing everything in my journal. Anyways i'll write back on Monday, I'll probably send a letter in the mail. Show this letter to CORE too incase they're interested! I'll have to write a letter to them since I'm not gonna be allowed to email them. Ok bye!! Love you! Also could you possibly get Oma to send those yummy cookies that she shapes through a meat grinder, and also maybe some classical music too. Tell everyone i say hi!"

*Notice his Canadian scarf…….I guess he wore it everywhere during the chilly times!

"Lots has happened!!!! Our Pday is today cause transfer
meeting is tomorrow. My trainer is DL so I'm the district mom now!

I'm starting to get more mail. SO far I've gotten
2 packages, from the Rocky Mountain Wecks and you guys. I've also got
letters from a sister missionary, kenzie, and Oma. So ya, its nice.
Teaching is good, we have a baptism in a couple days so i can't wait.
We got hit by a butt load of snow on Saturday, over a foot!! It all
melted in the rain a couple days later though but it was insane!! Its
so heavy and wet. We had a thick fog after that which smelled like
fish. You could see all these beams of light in the air cause there's
light houses everywhere! But I'm officially done my first transfer
here, one more and I'm done training. I can't believe all these
changes that are going on. We're going to take a ferry soon to
Nantucket, and i might be doing an exchange to Martha's Vineyard. Look
those islands up, they're really nice. Pres. Neilson from the branch
in med hat went there once and loved it."

It is amazing to hear from Christopher every week in his emails. His stories and the manner in which he writes shows how much he has grown in such a short period of time.

What an amazing blessing and adventure this is for all of us!

Here he is sitting at one of his favorite 'pondering spots' when they have a moment to do so! They have been doing a lot of volunteer work around Cape Cod helping people do yard work and different things. He tells me that they do it in their shirt and tie so when people

ask why they are dressed like that, they can start talking about the Church!

A little bit more from the MTC…

Picturez 011

While at the Missionary Training Centre, Christopher actually met up with friends that he already knew that were going on missions too like Shane Dola from Medicine Hat, Alberta.

Christopher's Email:

November 23,2011

I report to Boston on Dec 7 but i don't have my address there yet.  Flying was soooo awesome too! I got to see a dessert sunset just before Phoenix! Best trip ever! And i don't get airsick! I went in the choir, got to sing at the devotional last night. D. Todd Christofferson talked to us and i saw my face on the screen as we were singing! I'm really loving my time here, awesome roommates and somehow i can get along with anyone. And also my one pair of pants that i have for my suit, the cuff's on the bottom unravelled so i stuck pins in it to hold it up. But one time the pin fell in my shoe, ouch! I'm gonna take my stuff in Monday to get it fixed and dry cleaned. Everything seems cheaper here too! But ya, once again.  Also one of the less active investigators we taught gave me some natural oil stuff that smelled like mint. it actually clears up my nose but is really strong. I've had so many testimony building experiences here and its so cool! I was slightly unsure at first but as i testify to investigators i feel my own testimony grow so much! Also I've been writing every day so far, didn't plan on doing that here but I've been doing it. there'll be sooo many stories!!

November 30, 2011

Hello! Got on again, obviously its my Pday.  So far we've had talks from both Christoffersen and Nelson. Its pretty sweet. And this guy from japan of the seventy. MTC is great still. Food is really good, they've always got 4 different meals to choose from so its awesome. For one of the examples in class i volunteered to take the teachers place and they were pretty surprised but accepted. I did so well, i even impressed the class! I also got called as Zone Leader so i get to lead the orientation today for the new missionaries. Its pretty fun. I've recorded everyday in great detail so i'll be able to share everything when i get back! Did you guys get my letter? Also i've realized that the fact i'm Canadian makes it soooo easy to start conversation with other people (sister missionaries). Everyone is so fascinated by the fact and i love it. I've already impressed my roommates with my smooth moves! This is actually for real too. One of the investigators we teach is this older couple and they're lovely. Our last lesson was amazing, it was organized and they were impressed by my ability to quote scriptures. Even the "home teacher" we were with talked to me about it after.  When they left we dressed up to say goodbye. I put on my hoodie, shorts, long socks and my scarf. I tucked in my hoodie and pulled the shorts as high as possible!!! Then we acted like nerds and walked down 4 floors to say goodbye. Unfortunately it was inspection time, and we walked past 2 branch presidents. We also took lots of pictures for you! On of my roommates gave me a haircut last night just before lights out, we ended up vacuuming when people were sleeping and i showered with the chair we used. Life is great, and i've gained no weight. I eat lots of salads. I actually have lots of friends, and i've taken plenty of pictures here. I can't believe Kurt got kissed, who would've guessed?!?!

One of Christopher's first email's home:

Hello!!! I've been doing great! Today is my P-Day so i finally get to use the e-mail. Most elders here have been getting letters from dear elder.com, its pretty cool how they do that. Life here is awesome and I'm loving the MTC, schedule is very very busy but its good. I'm learning sooooo much here! We currently have 2700 missionaries here and the Sunday temple trip is amazing! there's hundreds all over the temple grounds. I've been doing very well in my discussions but i feel a little bad because I think i dominated the conversation and my companion doesn't get much time to talk. But I'm incredibly excited to get into the field! We've been doing tons of really fun things, some are included in the letter i sent you guys but i don't know for sure.

Things we've done:

-Threw snowball at security kiosk
-Make a giant slingshot with the flex bands and shoot each other with it

-Make a hammock out of our sheets

-Make the DL do the "impossible sit-up"

There's more but i don't think I'll send it all! The food here is really amazing, but rich and lots of it! I've exercised my will power and eaten mostly salads. The chocolate milk is made at the BYU dairy and so is the ice-cream so its all heavenly. I just found out the orange juice has mild laxatives in it so.... it explains a lot... But its fresh and delish! I can't believe Kurt has a GF and i hope Kurt liked his room!! (all the glitter Dola & I put in it!) You should send me a package with Canadian stuff!!  I also NEED to have a suit on all times here so I've worn the same pair of pants for the week! But I've gotta go, tell people to WRITE me! Love you all!! And also the area here is beautiful, i just went to the temple today. It was a fun session. Anyways write soon!! Love you

Saying Good-Bye!

On the week-end of November 13,2011, we invited all of Christopher's family, friends and co-workers to come over so we could share some laughs and have a nice time together before Christopher headed out on his journey the following week.
Ashley with Christie & Alyssa enjoying some snacks after Christopher's farewell talk in Sacrament in church.

Christopher & I getting into mischief.

Kate & Christopher.
Poor Kate.
On Tuesday, after rushing around and making sure that everything way packed and that Christopher had all that he needed... it was time to say good-bye. I was staying home with the other children and Marcus was driving the three hour drive to the Calgary airport.
I wanted to hug him forever, but in my heart, I knew that he was going to be just fine and he was about set off on such an amazing work. He is such a strong young man so full of faith in his Heavenly Father... he will be alright. I did, however, keep on waving until the van was out of sight.

Welcome to Christopher D. Weckesser's Mission

Last spring Christopher put his papers in to serve a mission with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Even though Marcus and I had always raised our children letting them know that we would support them if they served a mission or not, or if they went on to University or not, it truly did make us feel a joy when Christoper sent in his papers on his own after taking a semester at the University of Alberta. Just before last summer, he received a letter from the church which was signed by President Monson saying that Christopher had been called to the Boston, Massachusetts, English speaking mission. How AMAZING! He then got a job at the CORE Association here in Medicine Hat, working with physically & mentally challenged adults and saved up every penny that he needed to go and serve a two year mission for the church and Heavenly Father. On November 17, 2011 he flew to Salt Lake City, Utah to report to the Missionary Training Center........

This is his ADVENTURE.
